We see an internship as something that you choose to particiate in to enhance your own professional development. As an intern, our goal is to help you with your developing skill sets.

Art and Autism Program Intern

 

This intern will work with staff and faculty to offer two courses designed for young adults (ages 18-22) with Autism and related disabilities. Students are enrolled from Brookline Public Schools and the Ivy Street School. Ability to commit to a full semester is desired.

 

Qualifications:

  • Priority will be given to graduate students enrolled in Art Therapy, Psychology or Child Life Programs.
  • Prior experience with adult learners or individuals with Autism helpful.
  • Desire to support individuals at all levels as they explore art and learn new skills.
  • Professional and patient.
  • Ability to collaborate with lead faculty as well as coaches and teachers from partner schools.
  • Love and appreciation of art!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with curriculum planning and in classes.
  • Assist in establishing individual goals for students.
  • Track individual growth, challenges, interests and participation in meetings with lead faculty.
  • Communicate with parents and partner schools about schedules and specific class plans.
  • Create binders for individual students with instructions related to specific techniques.

 

Administrative Assistant Intern

 

Qualifications:

  • Priority will be given to individuals currently enrolled in college.
  • Prior experience in an office (preferably in a non-profit).
  • Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills.
  • Professional and patient.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • A willingness and ability to learn new skills.
  • Love and appreciation of art!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide office and phone coverage as needed.
  • Enroll students in classes, answer questions about programs, greet visitors, etc.
  • Enter data and maintain accuracy of student database, donor database, volunteer database, partner database, etc.
  • Work with staff to plan and execute events.
  • Assist with bulk mailings.
  • Distribute promotional materials in the community.
  • Work with staff to develop marketing strategies for programs and events.
  • Write content for newsletters, press releases, website and social media to promote the programs of the BAC.
  • Assist with the receipt of in-kind donations, process and record.

 

Gallery and Studio Intern

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in college (internship requirement as part of coursework prefered).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional and patient.
  • Knowledge of art materials and general care of studio space.
  • A willingness and ability to learn new skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs preferable.
  • Love and appreciation of art!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Studio Coordinator with studio maintenance.
  • Ensure that materials are well stocked, organized and easily accessible.
  • Alerts Studio Coordinator when materials are running low or are out of stock.
  • Assist with gallery preparation for new exhibitions.
  • Prepare mailings, price lists and signage for exhibitions.
  • Update and organize artist files.

 

Gallery and Studio Intern should be available for exhibition openings to assist artist and greet guests.

 

Teaching Assistant Intern

 

Qualifications:

  • Priority will be given to individuals currently enrolled in college.
  • Prior experience working with children in a classroom/child care environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Professional and patient.
  • Knowledge of art materials and general care of studio space.
  • A willingness and ability to learn new skills.
  • Love and appreciation of art!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist teacher with classroom set-up and clean-up.
  • Greet and welcome children and parents as they arrive and say goodbye as they leave.
  • Help children become oriented to classroom and activities.
  • Establish relationship with children.
  • Facilitate activities and foster children's engagement.
  • Follow emergency protocol.
  • Alert teacher of any issues or concerns.
