A Metals Sampler: Jewelry & Metalsmithing

Ages 12+, Adults Welcome

This class will explore the different types of metals used in Metalsmithing. Techniques include shaping, polishing, soldering, piercing, etching and embellishing in copper and brass. Silver available for a nominal fee. Limited to 6.

Teen Enameling

Ages 14+

Instructor: Heather Wang

Enameling is the process of fusing glass onto metal. Enamels are available in a rainbow of colors, as well as small glass "flower" chips and decal sheets. Suitable for beginners to advanced students. In this class, students learn the principles of metal preparation, enamel application and finishing processes. Returning students can explore new techniques, or continue working on projects of their own design. Limited to 6.

From Eric Carle to Maurice Sendak to Dr. Suess, every class will begin with a favorite book in group story time and will be followed by age-appropriate and themed projects. Watercolor & Drawing,

This is a basic class in which students learn to see as artists do. Students will be introduced to different media including pencil, pastel, charcoal, ink and watercolor. Working from nature and still life, students will gain awareness of line and nuance, while developing technical and observational skills. How to Draw Manga

Want to know how Chobits, Inuyasha and Spiderman are sketched and set into complex adventures? Then this is the class for you. Learn to Draw like a Pro!

Ages 8+

This fun, yet intensive, course covers basic drawing, with a focus on the figure. Through a series of weekly exercises, students polish their ability to see clearly and to render the world around them. Explore ways of creating space, light and texture, while becoming familiar with figure drawing, basic anatomy, construction of the body, poses and gesture drawing. Mega Sculpture

Ages 6-8

During this class students will learn to build tremendous sculptures of robots, giants, monsters, buildings or anything they can imagine. Working with different everyday materials including clay, cardboard boxes, and wire, students will create structures that will test their problem-solving skills and delight their creative side! Fantasy & Folk: Drawing & Painting

Ages 7-9

In this class students will refine their skills in drawing and painting while populating their worlds with fantastic characters. Working with colored pencil, ink, watercolor, and mixed media, students will learn to accurately render magical landscapes, playful still lifes and mystical figures. This is a wonderful class for the artist that never stops, offering a variety of media and unintimidating subjects that will inspire and encourage students.

Pottery & Wheelthrowing

Learn about the creative possibilities of clay. These classes will introduce students to hand-building techniques and the basics of wheelthrowing. Students will develop sensory skills, an understanding of balance and concepts of textures. Both individual and group instruction will be available. All projects will be kiln fired. Limited to 8.

Each week students will look at a new artist or a distant culture, then create their own inspired artworks. This is an excellent introductory class that will excite imaginations and allow students to survey perspective drawing, landscape painting, 3-D collage, pastels and much more! Students will be encouraged to express their thoughts about various works of art as well as develop their own skills and unique style.

Moms, Dads & Tots

Work creatively one-on-one with your child. We will use a variety of traditional art and household materials and will explore these in an open, expressive environment. There will be lively music, singing and creative movement. Limited to 12 pairs. Note to parents: Child must be 2-years-old by first class. Siblings under 7 months are welcome. Each tot must be accompanied by an adult.
