    Beginner Painting, ages 9-13

    In this beginner's class, students will learn the fundamentals of painting while studying traditional and contemporary painters. Lessons will include color theory and basic techniques such as layering and highlighting. Working from still life, students will learn to break down objects to simple forms, then build in details. This class will provide the knowledge and confidence to tackle painting; beginning with acrylics and progressing to oils.

    Learn to Draw Like a Pro Intensive, ages 8 and up

    This fun, yet intensive, course will cover basic drawing with a focus on the character. Assignments will build upon each other beginning with drawing shapes, use of light and shadow, perspective and composition. We will then draw the figure: basic anatomy, construction of the body, poses and gesture drawing. Limited to 10.

    Comics, ages 8+

    Master the steps needed to make your own comic book. Learn character design, plotting and perspective. You will master all the tricks to creating a dynamic page turner. All you need is paper, pencils and a vivid imagination! Beginner and advanced students are welcome. Limited to 10.

    Fantasy & Folk: Drawing & Painting

    In this class students will refine their skills in drawing and painting while populating their worlds with fantastic characters. Working with colored pencil, ink, watercolor, and mixed media, students will learn to accurately render magical landscapes, playful still lifes and mystical figures.

    Learn to Draw Like a Pro!

    This fun, yet intensive, course covers basic drawing, with a focus on the character. Through a series of weekly exercises, students polish their ability to see clearly and to render the world around them. Explore ways of creating space, light and texture, while becoming familiar with figure drawing, basic anatomy, construction of the body, poses and gesture drawing. Limited to 10.

    Mega Sculpture, ages 6-8

    During this class students will learn to build tremendous sculptures of robots, giants, monsters, buildings or anything they can imagine. Working with different everyday materials including clay, cardboard boxes, and wire, students will create structures that will test their problem-solving skills and delight their creative side! Limited to 8.

    Pottery & Wheelthrowing

    Learn about the creative possibilities of clay. These classes will introduce students to hand-building techniques and the basics of wheelthrowing. Students will develop sensory skills, an understanding of balance and concepts of textures. Both individual and group instruction will be available. All projects will be kiln fired. Limited to 8.

    Work creatively one-on-one with your child. 
We will use a variety of traditional art and household materials and will explore these in an open, expressive environment. There will be lively music, singing, and creative movement. Limited to 12 pairs. Each tot must be accompanied by an adult.

    Summer Studios

    Ages 10-16
    Mon. - Thur., 10am - 2pm

    Summer Studios is a two week program that offers young artists the opportunity to study drawing, painting, and ceramics in a focused, creative environment. After gaining familiarity and proficiency with pencil, brush, and clay, the student will be inspired to use these media for personal creative expression. Students study two hours of drawing and painting, and two hours of ceramics each day. Bring a lunch for the break. When you call to register, please specify age group: Ages 10-12 or Ages 13-16. Limited to 8 per age group.
