Watercolor and Drawing Intensive with Wendy Soneson

Instructor: Wendy Soneson

Beginners learn everything about watercolor in one week, while advanced students get to indulge in their favorite activity full time. Like summer camp for grown-ups, this week is always full of surprises and joy.

Basics of Drawing Intensive

Instructor: Anne Steinman

Learn to realistically capture the natural color and texture of flowers using pencil and watercolor techniques. Fine-tune your observation skills as you learn how to draw flowers and plants with attention to detail and color accuracy. Explore light and shade, form, and color mixing. Numerous demonstrations and individual attention included. All abilities welcome. Limited to 10.

Basics of Drawing Intensive

Instructor: Sue Funk

A specially designed class for our non-artists. Using careful observation and deconstruction of subjects, learn the fundamentals of drawing. Through shading, cross-hatching, and perspective, students will discover how to create the illusion of texture and dimension. Lessons include line drawing, sketching, and gesture drawing. Enjoy the basics of drawing in a relaxed and informal class that easily inspires new or returning artists.

Portrait Drawing and Painting Intensive

Instructor: Dana Levin

Students will learn to draw and paint a portrait using charcoal, pencil, and oils. Students will create a likeness of either a model or a photograph. Charcoal pencil will be used and students will be taught the renaissance method of drawing, and transform this "cartoon" to canvas.

Express Yourself with Decoupage

Instructor: Jennifer Sherr

This course will focus on the basic techniques of decoupage and faux painting. In this workshop you will change a home decor piece into something new, customizing it to reflect your own personality. Make lampshades, boxes, trays, or anything your creaive brain can think up! Students should bring their favorite pre-cut images, magazines, greeting cards or photographs.

Pottery & Wheelthrowing Intensive (ages 9-12)

This intensive pottery class will give students an introduction to the basics of hand-building and wheelthrowing or allow them to build on their previous ceramic study. All projects will be glazed and kiln-fired. Students should bring packed lunch. Limited to 8.

Beaded Jewelry Intensive

Instructor: Michelle Rothman

Come learn the joys of creating and making your own beaded jewelry! Learn how to use the proper tools and materials. Start and finish pieces such as necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Instructions will cover a variety of techniques that will take you from basic beading to more intricate designs and methods, such as multi-strand pieces and wire wrapping.

Jewelry & Metalsmithing

This class will explore the different types of metals used in metalsmithing. Techniques including shaping, soldering, piercing, etching, and embellishing on copper and brass. Silver available for a small additional fee. Limited to 6.

Kinetic Sculpture: Making Mobiles

Instructor: Vladimir Barsukov

Fridays 6:00-8:00pm

In this class we will take a look at works of some of the most famous kinetic artists such as Alexander Calder and George Rickey. Students will work with different types of wire and geometrical shapes of wood, plastic, metal sheets, etc. to create their own mobiles. We will explore ways to balance, assemble, and hang mobiles; students will be encouraged to create their own unique designs. Limited to 6.
