Summer ArtVentures

 

ArtVentures  |  Ages 5-7 & 8-11 (Children must have completed kindergarten) Our popular ArtVentures program for children blends fun with learning through a balance of structured projects, creative expression and play. We promote artistic exploration while developing technique and critical-thinking skills. Each theme is explored through a variety of mediums and imaginative projects. Students have three breaks during the day to explore our beautiful park, play on the connecting playground or participate in a game with their peers. Our weekly programs culminate in an art show designed to showcase and celebrate each child’s artistic accomplishments.

 

Classes meet from 9:00am-4:00pm with a one hour lunch break and two snack breaks. Early drop-off is available at 8:00am and late pick-up is available until 5:30pm.

June 20-23: Step Into Art

Start the summer with art you can really get into! This week we will explore fun contemporary themes in the art world, make costume art and create an outdoor installation in our park!

 

 

June 26-30: Beasts of the Forest (FULL)

Days: Monday-Friday

Class Fee: $375

Take a walk through the wild as we paint, draw and sculpt both real and imaginary woodland characters and creatures. We will draw inspiration from the Appalachian Mountains, fairy tales from the Black Forest in Germany and the Goblin Forest in New Zealand.

 

 

July 5-7: Dig This!

Days: Wednesday-Friday

We will explore archaeology and paleontology in an excavation-themed week of art making. Projects include plaster-cast fossil art, paintings of ancient wonders and works inspired by MFA Boston treasures.

 

 

July 10-14: Over the Moon (FULL)

This week will take us to the moon and beyond as we design and build our own lunar-themed colonies, make paintings of nebulas and galaxies and imagine life beyond our planet.

 

 

July 17-21: Build It III (FULL)

Back with one of our most popular weeks is the third edition of Build It! This week, students will take on the role of artist-engineer as we envision and design sculptural, architectural artworks.

 

 

July 24-28: Art of East Africa

Days: Monday-Friday

This week takes us to East Africa as we learn about landscape, history and culture through art making. We will make works inspired by ancient kingdoms, the Serengeti Safari and Maasai mythology.

 

 

July 31-August 4: Earthworks! (Ages 5-7 FULL)

Learn about the exciting world of eco-art in this nature-inspired week. We will create temporary art, experiment with natural materials and draw inspiration from artists like Andy Goldsworthy, Michael Heizer, Andrew Rogers and Elisabeth Wierzbicka Wela.

 

 

August 7-11: Amazon Adventures

Come explore the Amazon and all of its treasures including Mayan temples and pyramids, the lost caves of the Rainforest and the many species of plants and animals found there. This week is action-packed with artistic inspiration!

 

 

August 14-18: Barriers, Currents, Reefs and Seascapes (Ages 8-11 FULL)

This week is all about ocean landscapes and terrains - both real and imagined. Make art inspired by creatures of barrier reefs and the deep sea, create your own version of Nemo’s world and discover the lost underwater island of Atlantis.

 

 

August 21-25: Fantastic Folklore (FULL)

Fairy tales, theater and mythology combine for a fantasy-fueled week of art making. Projects include watercolor illustrations, puppet-making, superheroes and villains and more!

 

 

August 28-30: Kinetic Creations (FULL)
