Summer Intensives Ages 10-12


Our Summer Intensives offer students the opportunity to explore artistic mediums of their choosing in both a focused and fun environment. Classes encourage individual artistic exploration as well as introduce and develop techniques and skills for each medium. Each intensive is lead by a professional working artist in their field. Intensives include hands on learning in Pottery and Wheelthrowing, Painting, Drawing, Graphic Novels, Sculpture and more.


Classes meet from 9:00am-2:00pm with a 30 minute lunch break and one snack break. Weather permitting, students will take breaks in our beautiful park.

This hands on pottery program will introduce students to wheelthrowing and handbuilding fundamentals. Explore your creativity while learning techniques for creating your own mugs, bowls and other unique pieces!

*Price reflects a typical 5-day class. Cost is lower for classes with less than 5 days (i.e. July 1-3).

Who says you can't? Step out of reality and into infinite possibilities in this imagination-fueled week. Students are encouraged to develop new concepts and take artistic license with their drawings and paintings. We will look to out of the box artists for inspiration, and learn about surrealism, abstract and fantasy art.




Week: July 8-July 12

Significantly improve your “people skills” in this week-long focus on the human form. Projects include portraits and facial features, life drawing, figure sculpture, drawing hands and feet and more.

Through painting and drawing, learn the fundamental techniques for creating realistic works of art. Whether you are new to realism or improving your technique, this workshop covers perspective, creating light and shadow in art, color mixing and more. Improve your brushstroke and general rendering in just a week, and have fun doing it in a relaxed studio environment!



Week: August 5-August 9

Explore graphic novels and Comic Con art and its influences on animation, music and film. Students will learn panel design, give realistic expression to their drawings of original characters and create their own graphic novels with a focus on story structure.



Week: August 19-August 23

Learn foundational painting techniques including color mixing, building layers and applying various brush strokes. This course introduces plein air landscapes, still-life and palette knife painting. Students will work primarily in acrylics and watercolors.
