Summer Intensives Ages 13-17

 

Our Summer Intensives offer students the opportunity to explore artistic mediums of their choosing in both a focused and fun environment. Classes encourage individual artistic exploration as well as introduce and develop techniques and skills for each medium. Each intensive is lead by a professional working artist in their field. Intensives include hands on learning in Pottery and Wheelthrowing, Jewelry and Metals, Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Sculpture and more.

 

Classes meet from 9:00am-2:00pm with a 30 minute lunch break and one snack break. Weather permitting, students will take breaks in our beautiful park. A second Jewelry and Metals Intensive will be offered from 2:30-5:30pm with a 30 minute dinner break.

 

 

 

Jewelry and Metals Intensive (This class is open to 12 year olds)

Time: 9:00am-2:00pm or 2:30-5:30pm

Class Fee: $180-$290 (AM), $115-$185 (PM)

Materials: $30-$40 (AM), $20-$35 (PM)

 

Students will gain general knowledge of jewelry making and metalsmithing techniques hands on from day one! Techniques covered will include soldering, piercing, etching and embellishing in copper, nickel and brass. This intensive is open to 12 year olds. Runs: June 20-23, June 26-30, July 5-7, July 10-14, July 17-21, July 24-28, July 31-August 4, August 7-11, August 14-18, August 21-25 or August 28-30

 

 

Pottery and Wheelthrowing Intensive

Time: 9:00am-2:00pm

Class Fee: $290

This hands on pottery program will introduce students to wheelthrowing and handbuilding fundamentals. Explore your creativity while learning techniques for creating your own mugs, bowls and other unique pieces! Runs: June 26-30, July 10-14, July 24-28, August 7-11 or August 21-25

 

 

Faces and Form Intensive

Time: 9:00am-2:00pm

Class Fee: $180

Materials: $15

 

Improve your "people skills" in this week-long focus on the human form. Projects include portraits and facial features, life drawing, sculpture and more! Runs: July 5-7

 

 

Expressive Photography Intensive

Time: 9:00am-2:00pm

Class Fee: $290

Materials: $25

 

Explore ways to voice your opinions, observations and dreams about the world through photography. Activities will include making photographic optical illusions, painting with light and creating a personal narrative photo series. Emphasis will be placed on learning fundamental photographic techniques while simultaneously developing a unique individual style. All digital camera types and experience levels welcome! Runs: July 17-21

 

 

Methods in Painting Intensive

Time: 9:00am-2:00pm

Class Fee: $290

Materials: $25

 

Learn the fundamentals of painting including color mixing, building layers and various brush strokes. This course explores plein air painting, still-life and personal projects. Students will work primarily in acrylics and watercolors.  Runs: July 31-August 4

 

 

Videography Intensive

Time: 9:00am-2:00pm

Class Fee: $290

Materials: $25

 

In this one-week intensive course, video will be explored both as a unique art form as well as an innovative tool for investigation across various disciplines. As students work towards the creation of their own video work, the development of technical abilities in filming, editing and production will be emphasized. Learning will be collaborative, enhanced by the abundant exchange of ideas and feedback. By the end of the week, students will have honed their skills in order to build upon them in future projects and endeavors. Runs: August 14-18
