Community Spotlight: Elliot Kramer

How did you arrive at the Brookline Arts Center? What sparks your interest in our organization?

One of my professors recommended BAC to me! I think BAC is a really cool organization because of the teaching and learning aspect. There seems to be a great sense of community which I really appreciate.

Tell us about your background. How did you become interested in the arts?

I’ve always been a creative person ever since I was a kid. Through school I took art classes and enjoyed them, and in high school I really started to focus on it as a career option. My high school art teacher is a really big inspiration for wanting to become an art teacher.

What passions do you bring to the BAC community?

I love kids and I love teaching them! I worked at a children’s museum at home for three years running art programs and it was such a wonderful experience. I love to watch their creative processes and how they interpret things so differently when given the chance to explore different mediums and concepts.

What has brought you the most joy as a creative?

Recently in college I’ve taken up intaglio printmaking and it’s been so fulfilling. Drawing has always been one of my favorite ways to make art, and intaglio allows me to not only draw, but then to make something physical with that drawing. The process of it all is so cool. The learning curve is definitely large but very worth it.

What was your favorite childhood art project?

Anything with glitter! I loved dumping it on everything.

What artists or kinds of art are you into right now? 

I’ve been really into a lot of tattoo artists and what they’ve been making lately. A few of my favorites on Instagram are @sabotage.tattoos, @halfbackwards, @gombas007, @fine.hand, and @eternal___________ .

What are three things that you would want the BAC community to know about you?

My favorite color is bright red, I love cats, and I’m super excited to be working here this summer!
