Approximately 80-100 craftspeople will exhibit at this year's Crafts Showcase, all hand-selected by a jury of artists, collectors and designers with the Brookline Arts Center.
Toddlers and their parents are welcome to join us for art projects and relaxed shopping at Moms, Dads and Tots Shopping on Wednesday, December 15 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. FREE admission.
A more grown-up event is offered Thursday, December 16 from 6 to 8 p.m., with Scotch tasting and wine discussion and tasting, along with personal shoppers to help you find great gifts. FREE admission.
Gifts at the Crafts Showcase will include jewelry, glassware, ceramics, Christmas ornaments and Hanukkah items, kitchenware, clothing and many more gift items. Admission is free and every sale benefits the education programs at the Brookline Arts Center.
"I think that we are seeing more applications than ever before, because there are more aspiring artists who are looking for a way to bring their work to a Boston audience" according to Isabella Frost, organizer of the Brookline Arts Center's 2010 Crafts Showcase. "For example, we are showing Barbara McLaughlin of Stratham, New Hampshire; she makes dramatic jewelry from silver and unusual gemstones. Lenore Lampi of Baltimore, Maryland, shapes ceramic clay into pottery with the color and texture of birch bark. Her work is really unique." Every purchase at the Crafts Showcase benefits the students and artists at the Brookline Arts Center, as well as helping an artist to make a living from his or her art. If you cannot attend the 2010 Crafts Showcase, please consider a gift to help support the educational mission of the Brookline Arts Center. Many thanks to the artists of our Preview Party: Randall Darwall, Steven and William Ladd, and Erica DeMarco of Wow! Many thanks to the donors and bidders for our Live Auction of Fine Collectors' Crafts
