Photographer Sarah Cunningham Leads Photo Discussion Salon on June 19

[back to Exhibitions]

Roxbury artist Sarah Cunningham will lead a free Photo Discussion Salon at the Brookline Arts Center on Thursday, June 19th from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. The salon will be offered in conjunction with Axis Mundi: El Corazon de Quintana Roo, an exhibition at the Brookline Arts Centerof Cunningham’s photographs of Mexico.

Photographers, both amateur and professional, are encouraged to bring samples of their own work to share with the Photo Salon group, to spur discussion of artistic and technical issues. Everyone is welcome and admission to the salon and exhibition are free.

Cunningham, an instructor at the Brookline Arts Center, will exhibit her work from June 16 - July 25, 2008. Axis Mundi: El Corazon de Quintana Roo explores the hearth as the symbolic center of Quintana Roo, a state within the Yucatan district of Mexico.  The traditional Mayan culture is important in the Yucatan, and during a recent trip, Cunningham used her camera to search for what she describes as “the essence that pulses through the Mayan people and their homestead.”

Axis Mundi: El Corazon de Quintana Roo at the Brookline Arts Center, 86 Monmouth St., Brookline.  For more information, please call 617-566-5715.
