Minot Rose Garden Call For Artists
Artists asked to submit work for Exhibit sponsored by the Minot Rose Garden and the Brookline Arts Center
Are you an artist inspired by the beauty of the Minot Rose Garden in Coolidge Corner, Brookline? Almost daily, the Rose Garden is full of people painting, sketching and taking photographs. Now, those artists will have the opportunity to exhibit their work in a gallery: in a 2009 exhibition presented by the Brookline Arts Center and The Friends of the Minot Rose Garden.
All artists working in any medium -- watercolor, painting, video, photography, sculpture, prints -- are invited to submit their garden-themed work for the exhibit, which will be held at the Brookline Arts Center. All artists are welcome to participate.
Submissions for the show will be accepted from June 1 - October 15, 2008 and the art show will run at the BAC Gallery from February 8 - March 20, 2009. Further details on submitting works can be found at BAC's website at www.brooklineartscenter.com, or obtained by calling 617-566-5715.
The Minot Rose Garden is a public rose garden located at the intersection of St. Paul and Browne Streets in Brookline, MA. The Friends of the Minot Rose Garden formed in 2004 to initiate a major restoration of the garden, seeking assistance from the Town of Brookline, the Brookline GreenSpace Alliance and the Brookline Community Foundation. Now, they continue to lovingly tend the roses. For further information about the Friends or the garden, please contact Linda Olson Pehlke, President, at minotroses@aol.com, or visit their website at www.minotroses.org.
"We are very excited about this exhibition," remarks Pehlke. "The Friends of the Minot Rose Garden are working together with the Brookline Arts Center to provide a wonderful opportunity for local artists to display their work, and meet each other during the quieter winter months. These artists may find that they share the same source of inspiration -- nature -- as well as a lovely local resource, The Minot Rose Garden."
