Shirley Partoll: Pleasures and Principles
September 8 through October 6, 2006
An exhibition of paintings and prints that reflect the inspiration that Partoll found on her travels to Iceland, France, and Central and South America. Says Partoll: "My themes<85>often reflect my wanderlust, which is an avenue to impressions and images upon which I can expand."
Shirley Partoll worked for many years in psychology: in her practice, she often used art for both diagnosis and therapy. In both psychology and her own art, she searches for the healing and spiritual values in art, where the appreciation of external beauty allows the viewer to explore unknown spaces and changing truths. Her themes range from realism and nature to psychological ideas and abstractions.

Partoll studied art for many years with Brookline Arts Center faculty member Gema Phillips, as well as with Steven Trefonides and David Aaronson. She frequently displays her work with the Monotype Guild of New England and Brookline Artists' Open Studios.
Meet the artist at an artist's reception on Friday, September 15, 2006, 6:30 to 8:00 P.M.
The reception is free and open to the public.
