Our creative friends will help us put on a festive party like no other, to benefit programs for low-income populations and scholarships. Join us to dance, mingle, marvel at the performers, enjoy fine cuisine and cocktails, in a lively springtime party with a nouvelle circus feel.
Cirque de Village
November 18, 2010. A collaborative art project by the Brookline Arts Center with the Puppet Showplace, Brookline Community Foundation and 1st Light, from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Puppets, ice carving, refreshments and a return viewing of palettes decorated by Brookline artists from the Spring 2010 Palette Project. Outside and free, at 20 - 40 Webster Place in Brookline Village from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Perfect for families, and a great kick off to your exploration of Brookline's annual 1st Light celebration.
Collectors' Auction
Wednesday, December 8, 2010, from 6 to 9 p.m.. An extraordinary new event featuring the best of contemporary crafts, gifts and art donated by major local collectors.
This is your chance to bid on a unique and collectible work of art or fine craft. You will start your collection while benefiting the scholarship students of the Brookline Arts Center. Fine cuisine by Jim Solomon and the Fireplace Grille, plus a festive gala atmosphere. Tickets are available now for $25, or $20 if paid in advance.
Palette Project
April 1 - May 8, 2010: All over Brookline! Nearly one hundred Brookline artists and celebrities have designed a palette for this town-wide exhibition. Visit local businesses and non-profits to see them all and make a bid to win your favorite. Silent auction bids start at only $25, and your bid will benefit the programs and scholarships of the Brookline Arts Center. THE PALETTE PROJECT WILL RETURN IN APRIL 2011 FOR A SECOND YEAR!
Color Your World! with the Brookline Arts Center, an art GALA
Saturday, May 8, 2010, 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. Join us in the Wightman Mansion Marble Room at 43 Hawes Street. This evening gala will feature delightful cuisine and cocktails, Special Guests and fun artworks created especially for the Brookline Arts Center by artists from all over Brookline. Reserve your tickets by calling 617-566-5715. $125 per person. A selection of fun artworks (specially decorated painters' palettes) will be auctioned by Brookline native Stanley Paine.
Battle of the Arts!
Saturday, August 7, 2010, 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Artists representing the Brookline Arts Center will face off against other neighborhood artists in a lighthearted competition, for prizes and the honor of winning the Battle of the Arts! Takes place in the park at the Martini Shell on Truman Highway in Hyde Park. The Battle is open to adults and young artists 16 and older. The celebration is free, and will include hands-on art events for children, presented by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, and music by the DotSQ saxophone quartet. Presented by the Brookline Arts Center in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Hyde Park Arts Association, and the Roslindale Arts Association.
Park(ing) Day
Friday, September 17, 2010, times: TBA The Brookline Arts Center is participating in Brookline's Park(ing) Day, a grass-roots, participatory one-day art installation experience to re-envision the real estate consumed by one public parking space. Brookline Arts Center Annual Meeting
