Volunteer

The Brookline Arts Center is a community-based organization and our corps of enthusiastic volunteers are probably the most important support for our many exciting art education programs. What is the difference between volunteering and an internship? Here at the BAC we see an internship as something that you choose to do in order to develop your skills in a profession. Volunteering can also serve this purpose, but the driving force is your desire to help out. So if you choose to volunteer you may do so for that sake only, as an intern, our goal is to help you with your developing skill sets.

Every day, volunteers come to the arts center to greet visitors in the gallery, assist the staff in the office, assist teachers in classes, help prepare the center for an opening reception in the gallery or help plan a special fundraising event. It's a great way to meet your neighbors, give back to the community, develop your job skills, meet your fellow artists and learn more about galleries and contemporary art.

Some long-term volunteers have filmed documentaries with Brookline Arts Center artists, photographed our programs and special events, organized artist gallery talks, led gallery programs, assisted in drop-in art projects and much more. If you have a few hours to share with us, we would love to welcome you into the Brookline Arts Center community of artists.

Contact the BAC office if you would like to have an information packet mailed to you, or to find out about current opportunities.
