Summer Intensives Ages 13-17


Our Summer Intensives offer students the opportunity to explore artistic mediums of their choosing in both a focused and fun environment. Classes encourage individual artistic exploration as well as introduce and develop techniques and skills for each medium. Each intensive is lead by a professional working artist in their field. Intensives include hands on learning in Pottery and Wheelthrowing, Jewelry and Metals, Painting, Drawing, Photography, Sculpture and more.


Classes meet from 9:00am-2:00pm with a 30 minute lunch break and one snack break. Weather permitting, students will take breaks in our beautiful park. A second Jewelry and Metals Intensive will be offered from 2:30-5:30pm with a 30 minute dinner break.




JEWELRY & METALS INTENSIVE (This class is open to 12 year olds)

Students will gain general knowledge of jewelry making and metalsmithing techniques hands on from day one! Techniques covered will include soldering, piercing, etching and embellishing in copper, nickel and brass. This intensive is open to 12 year olds.

*Prices reflect a typical 5-day class. Cost is lower for classes with less than 5 days.

This hands on pottery program will introduce students to wheelthrowing and handbuilding fundamentals. Explore your creativity while learning techniques for creating your own mugs, bowls and other unique pieces!




Week: July 16-July 20

Improve upon painting skills by learning various brush strokes, trying different stylistic approaches and applying color theory. This course explores both realism and methods of abstraction. Students will work primarily in acrylics and watercolors and have the opportunity to try their hand at oils.




Week: July 30-August 3

In this one-week intensive course, video and new media platforms will be explored both as unique art forms as well as innovative tools for reaching and engaging with new audiences. Students will learn technical skills in filming, editing and production. By the end of the week, students will have honed their skills in order to build upon them in future projects and endeavors.




Week: August 13-August 17

Build fundamental skills including focus and position of subjects, composition and lighting considerations. Explore basic design problems, exercises in visual elements and the history and development of photography as an art form. Students will also cover basic principles and techniques of camera-use, various photographic materials, processes and techniques for image processing and print production. All levels of experience welcome! DSLR camera and laptop required.
