As Director of Smith Andersen North Gallery in San Anselmo, CA, Jennifer OKeeffe played a key role in mounting several museum-quality exhibitions, including The Golden Decade: Photography at the California School of Fine Arts 1945-1955 and California Continued: New Approaches in West Coast Photography — a personal curatorial project featuring 30 artists and drawing connections among west coast photographic practices of the past several decades. Teaching the history of photography for the past two years has given OKeeffe invaluable experience contextualizing photographic work and making its historical moment urgent and relevant to a contemporary audience. Having worked as an artist herself, she has a unique standpoint and a wonderful international network of artists, curators and writers. OKeeffe's experience working successfully in this variety of capacities has given her a practical understanding of materials and production, as well as a sensitivity to the more subtle aspects of the creative endeavor.
Many of the Brookline Arts Center's faculty are working artists and have exhibited widely. Faculty bios, work and website links can be found here.
