TECHNIQUES IN DRAWING AND PAINTING

MASTERS IN WATERCOLOR

Students at all levels of experience are welcome to participate in this studio-style course. Explore the art of master watercolorists and examine the techniques they use to take the medium to the next level. Advanced students are encouraged to embark on personal projects. BATIK

With its colorful marbled effects, batik offers a variety of possibilities for decorating fabric. Learn to express your unique style in scarves and clothing, pillows, wall hangings, sculptures or greeting cards with this inspiring medium.

 

INTRODUCTION TO FORM AND COLOR

Tuesdays (5 wks), Sept 25-Oct 23

In this class students will learn to accurately convey and control color  in their art. Students will be introduced to color theory and the relationships between colors on the page. Lessons include line drawing, sketching and gesture with a focus on using color to bring life to your artwork. Enjoy the basics of drawing in a relaxed and informal environment.

 

 

INTRODUCTION TO LANDSCAPE

Tuesdays (5 wks), Oct 30-Nov 27

In this class students will learn about the rich and varied art of the landscape. Students will explore perspective, atmosphere and color using a variety of drawing mediums including graphite, charcoal, pastel and more.

Are you looking for a studio space to work on personal 2D projects? Drop in to our open studio to work independently in a creative and supportive environment. These sessions are drop-in and do not include instruction or materials.

 
 

PIGMENT IN NATURE

Take a closer look at color in nature and examine how artists throughout history have depicted the natural world. Beginners will learn techniques and tricks to understand how to use watercolors and gouache effectively and efficiently to create beautiful works of art. METHODS IN PAINTING

Techniques and methods used in art history as well as by contemporary artists will be featured in class so students may broaden their understanding of the vast world of painting.
