Wearable Art: Closing Ceremony

  • Annex Gallery 86 Monmouth Street Brookline, MA, 02446 United States (map)

The BAC along with friends and family of Mika Hornyak is planning a juried exhibit in her name of Wearable Art, to be held in March 2022 with a scheduled closing event on Saturday, March 19.

The Wearable Art Exhibition and the establishment of the Mika Hornyak Artist Fund are inspired by two of her great enthusiasms, the artform of Wearable Art, and the support of local/regional artists. The show will be a celebration of Mika and will be a hybrid (both in person and virtual) as well as a celebratory closing reception. A hybrid event will allow participation and attendance of Mika’s friends and family all over the world. It will give all of us another time to remember and celebrate her as well as what will surely be an engaging show.

In addition to celebrating Mika and the many forms of Wearable Art, we also hope to raise money to support a goal that Mika was dedicated to: supporting local and regional artists. Uses of the funds would include prizes for the juried exhibits; stipends for our artists’ residency; and honoraria for artists who support the BAC by contributing their work and time.

The exhibition will feature an online auction that will open the first day of the exhibit. Artists will receive 50% of retail price, and any additional funds will be donated to the Mika Hornyak Artist Fund. Once the auction opens, all items will be available for a Buy-It-Now option for 150% of retail price. Otherwise, all bids must be placed before March 19, 2022, the final day of the exhibition and closing event.
