School is out, but creativity is IN at the Brookline Arts Center! Our weeklong and day programs this spring are a fantastic way to nourish your child’s experience in the arts in a vibrant and engaging environment.

Full Day Programs: March 29

  • Heroes in the Making

    Ages 5-7

    Time 9:00am - 4:00pm

    Description In this class, lessons blend fun and learning through a balance of structured projects that encourage creative expression, and visual challenges that encourage problem-solving, invention, and play. Real and fantastical heroes will inspire students, as they come to life through drawing, sculpture, and puppets in this lively vacation program!

  • Art in Motion

    Ages 8-12

    Time 9:00am - 4:00pm

    Description This daylong workshop will focus on two kinds of moving art: kinetic ("movable") sculpture and stories in motion! We will design 3D artworks that sway in the breeze or tumble downhill - moving with or without our help. In the afternoon we turn to storytelling, letting our drawings burst to life through flip-books and moving-scroll comics stories. All builders, tinkerers, dreamers, and storytellers welcome.

  • Clay Creations

    Ages 10-13

    Description Spend the day exploring the wonderful world of clay and all of its sculptural possibilities. Explore techniques such as coil building, double pinch pot making, sculpting slab mugs and more!

  • Teen Jewelry & Metals

    Ages 12-17

    Time 9:00am - 2:00pm

    Description Spend the day exploring the wonderful world of jewelry and metals! Students will gain a general knowledge of jewelry making and metalsmithing techniques in this week-long intensive. Techniques covered will include soldering, piercing, and embellishing in copper and brass.

April Break Programs: April 15-19

  • Puppet Tales

    Ages 5-7

    Time 9:00am - 4:00pm

    Description What makes us love stories? What draws us to our favorite characters? Together we will unite storytelling, humor, and art in this class on puppet making! Each week we will focus on a different kind of visual storytelling. From socks to shadows, we will bring our own creatures and characters to life and perform their stories together.

  • Drawing, Drawing, Drawn!

    Ages 8-12

    Time 9:00am - 4:00pm

    Description This weeklong vacation program will explore the wild world of drawing! Through both short lessons on essential drawing skills and engaging projects that will explore line, shading, character design, advertisement, portraiture, and more, students will experiment with a wide array of drawing techniques, styles, and materials. We’ll make traditional pencil drawings, design abstracts in pastel, draw faces in wire, cut drawings out of paper, and make drawings that move! For enthusiastic beginners to illustrious illustrators, we’ll attack drawing from every angle.
