How did you arrive at the BAC?

I wanted to find a way to monetize some of my skills and also pass them on to emerging artists and other people who desire to create things.

Tell us about your background and interests as related to the BAC?

I studied jewelry and metalsmithing in college, I also took a variety of other art classes, especially textile classes and paper/book classes. I am passionate about learning, taking care to preserve some hand skills that are being practiced less, and I hope to share a lot of my knowledge with other artists to keep the world creative.

What other passions do you bring to the BAC community?

I love to laugh and make people laugh; I like to bring a good sense of humor to my classes and inspire a fun and creative learning environment. I also am passionate about experimentation with different materials and techniques in my art and I like to encourage my students to do the same.

What has brought you the most joy as a creative and as a jewelry instructor?

My favorite moments as an instructor are when a student has stated a project and may have had a roadblock or two that I helped them through, and then at some point they’ll have a problem but they’ll be able to come up with a solution on their own, sometimes one that I wouldn’t have thought of. Those moments when I can see that a student is actively learning are my favorite.

What is your idea of fun?

My idea of fun is eating something crunchy and salty with people who make me laugh

What kinds of artists/kinds of art are you into right now?

Lately I’ve been interested in geometric shapes and heavy materials, I’m inspired by a lot of brutalist buildings, sculptures by Constantin Brancusi, Isamu Noguchi and Yoan Capote. Paintings by Mark Rothko are also inspiring me right now, and Roy Lichtenstein is probably my all time favorite artist.

What are 3 things you want the BAC community to know about you?

I’m happiest when I’m making something, even if it’s just dinner; I love to try new things; and every day I try to at least do one thing better than I did yesterday.

When you’re not at the BAC where can people find you?

You can find me probably in my kitchen making something to eat, probably drinking a CocaCola
